Home / DURP News / Learning from Disasters: Perspectives from the U.S. and Indonesia

Last fall, Professor Dolores Foley and her practicum students paid a visit to Indonesia to examine and discuss the unique “similarities, challenges, and vulnerabilities to disaster” characteristic of modern-day Indonesia.

From the “About” section: “This blog is about disasters and the role of higher education in risk reduction and resilience.” In these posts, we – from the University of Hawaii at Manoa (UHM) Department of Urban and Regional Planning (DURP) – share our experiences, research, and growing partnerships on disasters in the US and Indonesia. Both Hawaii and Indonesia have unique similarities, challenges, and vulnerabilities to disaster, which we explore across geographies, sectors, and topics.” Check out the blog here.
