First Aid/CPR/AED Certification Training

Request a First Aid/CPR/AED Training for Your Department or Group

DPS offers training in Adult First Aid/CPR/AED through the American Heart Association by request only.  These sessions are hybrid, including an online portion and an in-person skills evaluation.  All in-person sessions are held Monday-Friday at the DPS training office.

To schedule a session for your UH Mānoa student, faculty, or staff group, please read the information below:

Number of participants:  Due to the American Heart Association’s requirements to maintain a strict student to instructor ratio, a maximum of 12 participants is allowed for the in-person portion of this training.  If you have a larger group, you may have to schedule multiple sessions to accommodate all participants.

Course Format:  This is a hybrid course with two parts. Please note that this course does not cover First Aid/CPR/AED for infant and child. This class is not eligible for credit towards any degree or program, and will not substitute a credit-earning class.

  • Part 1 (Self-paced online course): Participants are given access to the American Heart Association’s training content, which is an interactive course that will teach the necessary skills in first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and Automated External Defibrillator (AED). Please allow up to four hours (on your own) to complete this portion.
The link to this training will be sent approximately two weeks prior to your Practical Skills Evaluation (see Part 2).  IMPORTANT: This portion must be completed before participants attend the practical skills evaluation (part 2).
  • Part 2 (In person practical skills evaluation at DPS training room): During this portion, participants have the opportunity to practice the skills learned during the online portion of the course and ask questions. Participant will complete their skills evaluation to receive their certification card. Please allow up to four hours for this portion of the course.  These are offered Monday-Friday between 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m..

Course Location:  All training sessions are held in the DPS training room, which has all of the equipment and space that is needed for both classroom and practical portions of the training.  We are located in UH Mānoa Campus Services Building, 1951 East-West Road.  DPS provides all training equipment and technology for the session.

Cost: $70 per participant (all-inclusive). The course fee covers your individual online course product key, class materials, and certification card.  IMPORTANT: This fee is non-refundable, as we use it to purchase your individual product key. You are welcome to change the date of your Practical Skills Evaluation, but we are unable to issue a full refund.
