Termites are economically important insect pests in the state of Hawaiʻi. Worldwide, termites cause $40 billion annually in repair and control. The UH Termite project: Educate to Eradicate, led by Dr. Jia-Wei Tay and directed by Dr. Reina Tong, is a statewide program intended to suppress termites through research and education. The project is federally funded by the United States Department of Argiculture, Agricultural Research Services.
