Pick a mature, healthy dog that is free of rabies.
Storage
Meat can be frozen for long storage.
Preparation
- Hang upside down and slit the throat with a sharp knife to bleed out.
- Pitch the dog with an ice pick.
- Raze or shave off hair.
- Cut open the carcass and remove the organs.
- Cut carcass into desired cuts of meat.
- Wash meat well before use.
- Can be grilled, sautéed, stewed, or made into soup. (Karfung, 2002)

Dog
Dog is sometimes eaten in the Pacific. Traditionally, the animal is first fattened on a special diet including taro (Haden, 2009).
