Supreme Limu


Pinch off the branchlets without uprooting the base. Shake in seawater to remove dirt and sand.


Keep the plant in shade once harvested. Can be stored salted and refrigerated or frozen.


  • Wash plant well before use.
  • Clean and soak overnight in fresh water to reduce thebitterness.
  • Typically salted and then eaten fresh or cooked.
  • Can be pounded and stored in an airtight container forlonger periods.
  • Can be used as a spice for flavoring in stew or withfish.

Supreme Limu

Supreme limu, or limu kohu, is found off reef edgesand likes clean and well-flushed waters. The plant is yellowish red or dark red in color and looks like tiny pink trees with fuzzy branchlets in the water (Novaczek, 2001).
