Hand Using Pen to Write the Word Scholarship

New 4-H Scholarship

A new scholarship has been established through the Hawaii Community Foundation to honor the memory of Caron Ikeda, a long-time 4-H member and Teen 4-H Leader. The $1500 scholarship is available to a graduating senior who was active in the 4-H youth development program in Hawaii. The scholarship will be presented through the State 4-H Alumni Association. Please see the Scholarship Application for a biography of Caron Ikeda and the application itself. Deadline is April 1, 2024

11/2023 Operation Christmas Shoebox Project 12

Operation Christmas Shoebox

Members from several 4-H clubs and other youth groups met on November 7, 2023 to pack Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes & 100 keiki bags with toys, toiletries, & school supplies for youth impacted by the wildfires in Lahaina in August. The Maui group packed 1,868 boxes! Their efforts were combined with groups from other locations around the state. Hawaii’s contribution of 44,866 Operation Christmas shoeboxes will be heading to Mongolia, Philippines, Thailand, Ukraine, El Salvador, Madagascar, and Uruguay.

The Aloha Girls club met in November for a thankfulness meeting. We read a thankful book and the girls decorated Thank You cards for their teachers, friends and family. We also did a thumb print craft and created a Thank You card for the Malama Dolphins 4-H club for hosting the Halloween Bash.

The Lokahi Girls club met recently for their 4-H Officer induction ceremony. Afterwards they worked together to craft items to sell for a donation to create care and comfort packages for children affected by the fires.

Another GREAT Day with Lana’i Kauna’oa 4-H Keikis and Family Members!! Sunday, November 19, 2023. The day started with an introduction to 4-H Procedures – Sign-in, Motto, Pledge, and Cloverbud Expectations and Goals. We moved on to Culinary Skills and then we all practiced proper rabbit handling plus rabbit care responsibilities and State of Hawaii requirements in regards to invasive species preventative measures. The event ended with hot cocoa, marshmallows and snacks.
