1st Keiki Open Market in the Books!
On Saturday February 11, 2023, Two 4-Her’s from the 4-H LIFE Club (Local Innovators and Future Entrepreneurs) hosted a booth at the 1st Keiki Open Market. The market was held in conjunction to an University of Hawaii Extension garden event at the Urban Garden Center. Youth in the club have been working on learning about entrepreneurship through hands -on learning. The club uses a Venture Lab and Youth Entrepreneurship Curriculum to build skills. The Keiki Open Market was a real life application of the life skills the youth had been building through 4-H Club work.
Some of the items created and sold at our market where kale starts, cover crop seeds, para-cord bracelets, up-cycled vase with fresh flowers, lemons and hand painted garden rocks/charms.
Join us to learn valuable life skills and have fun too! We will be planting an herb garden and working on other up-cycled projects!
Recruitment of club is ongoing and we are excepting new youth to join us to get ready for the next Keiki Open Market. Our LIFE Club is opened to youth in grades 5th to 12th grade on the Island of Oahu. Our Club meetings and market are located at the urban Garden Center in Pearl City. The Club meets the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month from 6pm to 7:30pm. Our next Keiki Open Market is tentatively set for Saturday April 8th.
