‘Aha‘ōlelo 2020

Ahaolelo Logo Beyond This MomentThe 4-H ‘Aha‘ōlelo Conference will be held July 13-16, 2020 at the University of Hawai‘i, Hilo campus. This year’s theme is Beyond This Moment. The four-day program includes educational, recreational, and social events. Participants stay in university dormitories, will eat campus meals, and survive without sleep for much of the week.

4-Hers in 9th-12th grade may attend, as well as screened adults who will serve as chaperones.

Many thanks to the East Hawaii 4-H Federation for their generosity in using their Paper Clover Funds to help off set costs of the conference and reducing the registration fee. There are some scholarships available for members:

Scholarships

Weinberg Scholarship – The Hawaii 4-H Alumni Association is offering the Ellison Onizuka/ Weinberg Scholarship ‘Aha‘ōlelo Award of $150 registration plus airfare for each (up to three Hawaii 4-Hers – one per county: Kaua‘i, Maui/Moloka‘i/Lana‘i, and O‘ahu) and $150 registration for a Hawai‘i County 4-Her, who best meet the requirements and criteria.

Talented 4-Hers – Are you an inspiring, talented 4-Her that would be interested in serving as entertainment during our morning assemblies and/or at the Ali‘i Banquet? Those who are interested in performing can submit a short audition video clip by February 29th to Catherine Chow and if they are selected will earn a $50 scholarship to apply towards their registration fee.

4-H ‘Aha‘ōlelo Conference News Team – would be responsible for writing articles and compiling them into a newsletter to be distributed shortly after the conclusion of the conference. Those interested in being on the team will need to contact and be recommended by their county agent. Those selected will earn a $50 scholarship to apply towards their registration fee.
