The Child and Family Research Lab - Sexual Orientation, Gender, and Gender Identity
The Sexual Orientation, Gender, and Gender Identity focus in the Child and Family Research Lab focuses on producing research that is timely and relevant in the current policy debates, such as current projects focused on violence against Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender people on college campuses, and on young people's attitudes toward sexual orientation given the current political climate surrounding same-sex marriage. Projects in the lab also explore theoretical topics, such as the ways that people perceptions functions such that race may be used as a predictor for sexual orientation. Last, projects addressing the needs of the transgender community, such as protective factors against trans-people becoming involved in substance abuse or violence are also a key emphasis.
