"We know that kids with quality early learning opportunities are more likely to graduate from high school, more likely to graduate from college, and more likely to earn higher income. And we know for every one dollar we invest in early education, we save seven dollars down the line in welfare, special education, and criminal justice costs. Our children deserve the chance for an early start on success."

The Child and Family Research Lab - Child Welfare/Child Wellbeing

The child welfare/child well-being lab encompasses many research interests. For example, a current research project explores contributing factors (socio ecological, psychological, and demographic) to child maltreatment, and child wellbeing using secondary data from the National Data Archive on child Abuse and Neglect. A second focus of the project is to examine and evaluate culturally relevant practices and trainings for managers, supervisors, and social workers in systems serving children and families of the state of Hawaii.
