Educational Background

Dan received his B.S. in Environmental Chemistry from the University of California, San Diego (2000 under Bill Trogler) and both his M.S. and Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of California, Irvine (2002 & 2006 under Pat Farmer). He then accepted a position as a research associate at the University of Washington exploring metal hydrogen interactions with Mike Heinekey (2006-2008). Since then Dan has been in the Hawaiian Islands. He has been teaching freshman courses (Chem 100, 105, 161, 161L, 162, and 162L) at the University of Hawaii and several of the nearby junior colleges, Kapiolani, Windward, and Honolulu community college. During this time he has also worked on several inorganic research projects, first with Oscar Navarro (2008-2009) on catalytic cross coupling reactions and currently with Craig Jensen (2011-present) on liquid organic carriers (LOC).
