Tenure-Track Faculty Positions in Inorganic Chemistry

Details: Assistant Professor and/or Associate Professor and/or Professor (two positions), 9-month faculty, full-time, permanent, general funded, positions #83430 & #84190, University of Hawaii at Mānoa, College of Natural Sciences, Department of Chemistry, tenure-track, to begin August 1, 2014, pending position clearance and availability of funds. Candidates at all ranks and in all areas of inorganic chemistry are welcome to apply. However, applicants with research interests that complement those of current UHM Chemistry faculty are most strongly encouraged to apply. Targeted areas include:

  • Organometallic Chemistry
  • Materials Chemistry
  • Catalysis
  • Bio-Inorganic Chemistry

Please also note that screening will largely focus on Assistant Professor applicants, as only exceptional candidates at the higher ranks will receive full consideration.

Duties and Responsibilities: Teach graduate and undergraduate courses, direct graduate research in a nationally competitive area of inorganic chemistry, and contribute to other departmental activities as required.

Minimum qualifications for Assistant Professor: Ph.D. in Chemistry, or a closely related field, evidence of research productivity and demonstrated potential for establishing a vigorous, funded research program in inorganic chemistry, demonstrated ability to contribute to the department’s teaching at all levels, poise and good address for meeting and conferring with others.

Desirable qualifications for Assistant Professor: At least one year of postdoctoral experience.

Minimum qualifications for Associate Professor: Meets all minimum qualifications for the Assistant Professor position, evidence of a vigorous, productive, and funded research program in inorganic chemistry, and four or more years of professional experience as an Assistant Professor (or equivalent).

Minimum qualifications for Professor: Meets all minimum qualifications for the Associate Professor position, and four or more years of professional experience as an Associate Professor (or equivalent).

Pay range: To be determined for each rank, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
