Eligibility Requirements
Chancellor's Award for Outstanding Service
Qualifications
The nominee must:
- Be a full-time Buildings & Grounds Maintenance, Civil Service, or Administrative, Professional & Technical (APT) employee
- Have been employed continuously for no less than twelve consecutive months in a UH Mānoa college, school, department or program
Nominations are based on an employee's outstanding work performance, service, and leadership, contributions to his or her office or department and the University, and overall role promoting excellence in higher education. Any employee previously nominated may be renominated provided he or she has not been a recipient of the award within the last five years.
Examples of outstanding accomplishments by an employee include:
- Exceptional contributions to the achievement of the department's program objectives
- Encouragement of resource development (e.g., materials/equipment) to better serve the department and its program objectives
- Active participation in departmental, college, and/or campus affairs
- Continuous merit and proficiency in departmental affairs and operations
- Creative solutions to complex problems
- Integrity and dedication to the program mission
- Outstanding contributions to increased program efficiency
Selection Criteria and Process
- The justification for the nomination is limited to two pages.
- Each nominee is allowed three nominations from any employee, student, and/or community member. Nominations are received in sequential order, and only the first three nominations per candidate are submitted to the award review committee.
- The review committee evaluates the nominees based on the nominations and supporting documentation submitted.
- The review committee submits the top two nominations in each category to Chancellor Hinshaw, who makes the final selection from each category.
