Critical Thinking: Teaching, Learning, and Assessing

In this workshop, participants will learn about key principles from the research on teaching and learning critical thinking and discuss examples of critical thinking assignments. The facilitators will also introduce the Critical Thinking VALUE rubric. Participants will spend time discussing their assignment (or assignment ideas), the application of principles, and possible modifications to the rubric to make it useful in their classroom and for their students (if applicable).

This 75-minute workshop is offered twice. Faculty who teach upper-division courses will also be invited to participate in a critical thinking learning-assessment project.
