|Course Title: ||Japan Cool: Anime, Manga, and Film
|Course Description: ||Welcome to one of the few college courses in the nation devoted almost exclusively to Japanese anime and manga. Most of you reading this description grew up with Japanese anime like Pokemon or watched Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. So why have Japanese anime and manga become so popular? What does the audience get from these media products and what does it tell you about society? What can one learn about Japan from watching and reading these products? This course approaches the issue of Japanese media culture from several directions.
