Course Title:Asian Studies Research Seminar: Southeast Asia
Course Description: This seminar is geared for the graduate student specializing in Southeast Asia. It is intended to provide graduate level experience in systematic research and writing focused on published source materials mainly in the English language. The seminar will be divided into three components – extensive and intensive search and compilation of a bibliography; data collection and analysis; and a class presentation – which will provide students the opportunity to hone their public speaking, independent study, and research skills.
Learning Objectives: To teach first-year graduate students how to conduct advanced, systematic research and writing that would lead to the production of a Masters thesis or PhD dissertation.
