John Young Scholarship in the Arts
The purpose of The John Young Scholarship in the Arts is to provide assistance to 7 undergraduate juniors or seniors and 7 graduate students enrolled in the Colleges of Arts & Sciences and pursuing a degree in any field related to the arts (e.g. fine arts, music, dance, theater, literature, art history, creative media).

These awards are made possible by the John Young Foundation to honor the late renowned artist, John Young, and to fulfill his wish to support students of the arts at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa.

Preference is given to graduates of Hawaiʻi high schools.

Up to 7 Graduate awards of $8,000 each, will be made and up to 7 Undergraduate awards of $5,000 each will be made

Eligibility

  • Classified full-time Arts & Sciences graduate student pursuing a degree in any field related to the arts
    or
    Full-time undergraduate junior or senior with a declared Arts & Sciences major in a field related to the arts
  • Some degree of financial need
  • In good academic standing at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa

This scholarship is applicable to spring semesters, and the application due date will be in the prior fall semester. (For example, the "2016 John Young Scholarship in the Arts" application would be due in Fall 2015, but the scholarship would be awarded for Spring 2016.)
