Joseph Stanton, a professor of Art History and American Studies, at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa, reads from his new book of art-inspired poems, just published this year by Brick Road Poetry Press. Professor Stanton will read poems inspired by paintings, fairy tales, and noh plays. Professor Stanton’s new book, Things Seen, was a finalist in a national competition and was published earlier this year by Brick Road Poetry Press. Early comments on the book include Ravi Shankar’s declaration that “Joseph Stanton’s Things Seen is one of the best books of poetry this year.” Things Seen is Professor Stanton’s fifth book of poems and his second collection of art-inspired pieces.
Professor Stanton will be giving a reading from his new collection at the Art Gallery at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa on Sunday, September 11 at 4:30 p.m. Please see below for more details. The reading is free, and parking is usually free on campus on Sundays.
Admission to the reading is free.
