My career started with the UH system at Kapi‘olani Community College Admissions and Records Office. From there I transferred to the Mānoa campus at the Career Services office, then to the Ombuds Office before coming to the American Studies Department where I continue to enjoy working with students.

Jeff joined the American Studies department in 2005 as a graduate student. His dissertation examined American and Korean (North and South) interpretations of the DMZ, the heavily fortified border between the two Koreas. He finished his PhD in 2010 and came back to the department in 2011 to work as the Graduate Program Coordinator. Aside from his administrative duties, he also lectures in the department.

Shannon is currently a sophomore at the University of Hawai’i at Manoa. She is double majoring in English and Biology, and hopes to pursue a career in medicine in the future. She has been working in the American Studies department since December 2012.
