Feb 22, 2017

You are invited to an upcoming public talk by renowned political theorist Corey Robin.

“The Death of American Conservatism”
Date:   Friday, February 24, 2017
Time:  5:00 p.m.
Place:  Saunders 624 UH Manoa

Corey Robin is one of the foremost authorities on the conservatism in Europe and the United States.  His work has appeared in the New York Times, Harper’s, The Nation, and the American Political Science Review, and he is currently writing regular columns for the New Republic and Jacobin.

Despite the Republic sweep in the fall elections, Robin argues that the Trump ascendance is a sign of the conservative movement’s weakness rather than its strength, that the GOP coalition is more fragile than it might appear.  As opposition to the new president mounts, Robin also draws on the history of social movements to offer a critique of progressive advocacy in this new age of division and anxiety.
