Dilmurat Azimov serves as the advisor for ACTUAS and has nearly 25 years of experience in the areas of space trajectory optimization, guidance, navigation, and control of flight vehicles, and orbit determination using observations. His expertise includes analytical solutions for optimal control problems, and their application to mission design, and development of guidance, control, and targeting schemes for real-time implementation on-board flight vehicles. He received his Ph.D. (Doctor of Philosophy) degree in Mechanics from Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia in 1992 and his DSc (Doctor of Technical Sciences) degree in Dynamics, Ballistics, and Flight Vehicle Control from Moscow Aviation Institute in 2008. Dr. Azimov is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and teaches ME 374: Kinematics/Dynamics Machinery, ME 451: Feedback-Control Systems, and ME 696: Advanced Topics in Mechanical Engineering – Guidance, Navigation, and Control. He has also recently published the book titled, Analytical Solutions for Extremal Space Trajectories.
