About ACTUAS

The Autonomous Control Technologies – Unmanned Aerial Systems (ACTUAS) project has been recently funded through a NASA EPSCoR (National Aeronautics and Space Administration Established Program to Simulate Competitive Research) grant and is a RIO (Registered Independent Organization) at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa. This project involves unmanned aerial systems (UAS) where the students learn about UAS kinematics, dynamics, navigation, guidance and control, and conduct simulations, assemble, integrate and fly UASs, such as a fixed‐wing aircraft, a quadcopter and other multi‐rotor systems for a wide range of applications. Dr. Azimov is the Science Principal Investigator of the ACTUAS Project, and ACTUAS currently serves as one of the main projects in Hawai`i’s Engaged STEM Pathways (HESTEMP) program.

Mission Statement
ACTUAS’s goals align with HESTEMP’s goal to establish engaged and sustainable pathways for students pursuing and achieving advanced STEM degrees with a focus specifically in instructing and educating students about the simulation and flight of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS).
